This unit develops students’ ability to plan, staff, communicate, monitor, and control project work using practical tools and techniques. Students will build on foundational scheduling and initiation skills to assign resources, operate project management information systems, apply earned value management, and prepare for advanced control and delivery topics in subsequent units.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze project network diagrams to identify critical path, float, and necessary schedule adjustments for on-time delivery
- Evaluate team member availability and matrix-role relationships and construct a Responsibility Assignment Matrix to align resource commitments with project tasks
- Apply project management information systems, appropriate communication media, and productivity software to collect, distribute, and document project information effectively
- Demonstrate earned value management calculations and implement control processes to monitor performance, forecast variances, and recommend corrective actions
