Strategic Communication and Leadership

This unit develops advanced communication, closing, and informal leadership skills used in business management. Students will synthesize presentation techniques, stakeholder analysis, project-level communications, and ethical decision-making to close transactions, build trust, and lead teams without formal authority.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze audience and stakeholder power and interest to construct a scope statement and a project communications management plan that confirms authority, communication channels, and reporting requirements
• Apply advanced verbal and nonverbal communication techniques—including structured introductions and conclusions, facial expressions, gestures, active listening, and professional email writing—to deliver persuasive presentations and business correspondence
• Demonstrate ethical and legal judgment by identifying relevant laws and consequences, practicing honesty and truth-seeking, and executing responsible closing strategies that address barriers and family or conflict-of-interest situations
• Evaluate and practice relationship-building and informal leadership skills by creating and communicating a realistic, actionable vision that motivates others, builds trust, encourages learning, and maintains dependability and consistency
