Futures, Signals, and Strategy

This unit teaches students to interpret ambiguous signals about technological and market change and translate them into entrepreneurial strategy. Students will practice scenario planning, synthesize insights into actionable notes, and prepare strategic responses that build on prior units and lead into a capstone or real-world application.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze emerging technological, social, and market signals to identify at least three plausible future scenarios for a selected business or industry using evidence from primary and secondary sources
• Apply scenario-planning techniques to construct contrasting future narratives and produce strategic implications for entrepreneurial ventures or business models
• Evaluate the risks, opportunities, and ethical considerations of each scenario and prioritize strategic responses based on feasibility and potential impact
• Demonstrate professional synthesis by compiling concise, organized notes and an action brief that translate scenario insights into a recommended next-step plan for stakeholders
