This unit establishes foundational knowledge and skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus basic tooling and deployment concepts needed for front-end web development. Students will learn to structure accessible web content, apply styling and layout techniques, implement basic interactivity, and prepare projects for cross-browser testing and hosting, setting the stage for more advanced development and deployment in subsequent units.

- Analyze the distinct roles of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and evaluate how browser choice, web hosting, and cross-browser issues affect site behavior and deployment
- Apply semantic HTML structures, accessible attributes, images, links, tables, and form controls to create well-structured and accessible web pages
- Demonstrate CSS fundamentals including selectors, the box model, measurement units, color specification, typography, pseudo-classes, and layout techniques (Flexbox and Grid) to produce responsive page layouts
